Well Protection

FDI Playbook

Protect well integrity.
Maximize production.

FDI Playbook is ShearFRAC's solution to monitor, measure, and mitigate unwanted fracture-driven interactions (commonly called frac hits) between wells. Pre-defined response workflows give field crews the tools to protect parent wells and maintain production — in real time.

About FDI Playbook

Standardized workflows for detecting, assessing, and mitigating fracture-driven interactions across your completion program.

Real-time FDI detection and alerts

Continuous monitoring of pressure behavior across active and offset wells to identify fracture-driven interactions as they develop.

Pre-built mitigation playbooks

Standardized response workflows that give field crews clear, immediate actions when an FDI event is detected.

Offset well monitoring integration

Simultaneous tracking of parent and child well behavior to understand inter-well communication dynamics.

Post-job FDI analysis and reporting

Comprehensive post-operation review of FDI events, including severity classification and well impact assessment.

Capabilities

What FDI Playbook Delivers

When wells communicate, you need answers fast. FDI Playbook gives your crews the information and response protocols to act before well integrity is compromised.

01

Protect well integrity in real time

Detect pressure communication between wells before it causes casing damage or production loss.

02

Standardized crew response

Pre-defined playbooks ensure consistent, repeatable mitigation actions regardless of which crew is on site.

03

Decision support for field crews

Clear visual indicators and action recommendations that operators can act on immediately.

04

Quantify FDI severity and impact

Stage-level classification of interaction events to inform future well spacing and completion design.

Example Response Prompts

Thresholds and recommended actions are configurable by operator. The prompts below are adapted from a published webinar example.

Monitor Baseline tracking

Continuous offset well monitoring with clear indicators so crews can stay ahead of escalating interaction.

Mitigate (Example) 50 PSI interaction

Prompt field crews to adjust treatment, e.g. increase proppant concentration by 0.25 PPG for a wellbore volume.

Escalate (Example) Rate adjustment

If interaction continues to increase, prompts may recommend rate reductions, e.g. reduce rate by two barrels a minute.

Evidence-Backed Results

Examples below are pulled from published case studies and technical papers. Results vary by basin, design, and execution.

Published outcomes (examples)

  • Eagle Ford gas (SF-006): Stage placement +63%; stages with >80% planned fluid placement increased from 24% to 87%; and cumulative gas production +25% after 18 months.
  • Delaware oil head-to-head (SF-010): Average interaction of 20 psi in 12/58 stages vs 50 psi in 50/58 stages, with +25% cumulative production improvement after 18 months.
  • Haynesville gas (SF-013): 100% mitigation toward older offsets and >90% toward modern, with a record 180 MMscfd peak rate and forecasted 2.4 Bcf/1,000' EUR.
